January 3, 2019: The Boise Adventure | Day 3

5 year anniversary dinner

A day of milestones; Garrett and my 5th anniversary and more importantly, our baby pup was 10 months old today. Along with day three in Boise, much to celebrate.

We started the morning with a 5:30 am wake-up call (I like to hit the snooze button at least twice while Garrett lies wide awake upon initial alarm). The pup followed my lead without a peep coming from his crate until second snooze.

After I remembered it was our anniversary, we had a solid five minute debate on how many years we have been married. I finally proved without doubt by finding the "5 Year" stamp on my TimeHop app photos via iPad (never more than an arm length away from our bed).

Other than a full day of work in our new digs, with great views and lots of natural sunlight pouring into our office, the extent of our adventuring centered around a dog walk and searching for a restaurant to eat dinner.

Zeke and I ventured out into the crispness of the winter morning air. Without a clue on the neighborhoods in the area, we found a large family-owned nursery (sign says it began in 1930 and they also offer kids yoga in the north greenhouse). Lots for Zeke to sniff there.

An access road took us into a cute, quiet neighborhood with signs advertising egg and poultry sales and a little welcome sign that made me feel right at home (see right for your reading pleasure in language of choice).

It amazes me how friendly the drivers in cars here are toward cyclists and walkers. Designated bike lanes are on nearly every street and cars stop and wave you to cross, even with no marked crosswalks.

The pace also seems just a beat slower with people in less of a hurry. We will see if I feel this same sentiment in a month. That is definitely the vibe I had today.

Garrett and I did check out a second gym this afternoon. It was good, having everything we need and close to the house. But not as close or as good as Lifetime in Omaha. We still have a couple more to try It is amazing how we humans get hooked on our daily habits and routines.

Dinner was an adventure. Who knew we should make a reservation for dinner for two on a Thursday night? The first restaurant pick was a two hour wait and the second was one hour. It did give us a chance to drive through several areas around downtown and better acclimate us to the offerings.

We settled on Alavita's which ended up being an excellent choice. It was small and also had about an hour wait, but we cozily found a great spot at the bar. The perfect venue to reminisce on our nine years together and the five since we married. So much change, happiness, adventures, laughs, and tears has happened along the way. But our being together is the wonderful part of the journey., regardless of the circumstances.

It was also fun looking through all the pictures taken from our wedding reception that cold night five years ago. The smiles were warm and the love was real. Here's to many more <raise the glass>!

Our baby is getting so big!

Five years and lots of changes for this crew
Every expression cracks me up
